Don't agree with that!
Bullies use force. As a parent, it is a symbolic gesture to a child, not a forceful whallop!
anybody's jw parents ever use that "don't spare the rod" song and dance as an excuse to beat the living shit out of you?
my parents used to relish in the whole physical punishment thing.
i guess the question i'm trying to get at is, do you think wts promotes and encourages physical violence in the home?

Totally right confusedjw...
Its necessary to guide youngsters for their own safety sometimes. A short smack on the hand or bottom tells them that it should not be repeated. But to be thrashed with an implement of somekind is abuse!
Sorry...again...That last post was for the Why Goergia story.....
(I'm still laughing at that)
Holy Sh*t...LMAO!!!!
I would've died laughing at that!!! Oh my goodness..that really has got to be the funniest thing!!
(sorry. I'm in stitches just thinking of that)

OOh Crappin 'ell.
My stepdad,(wa**er) didnt half give me some beatings, all in the name of love...honest, that was his last word as he thrashed me with a bamboo cane across the back of the legs!!...shit,it makes me whince now. ''I'm doing this because I love you''. That was after he'd sat me down, read a scripture or two that confirmed I was a sinner, and I probably wouldnt enter the new system as a result. (Hell if you're gonna be there, then perhaps I don't want to be!!)
One Thursday on the 'Ministry School', My mum and my Sister were doing a No.3 talk. They started off ok, and then about 2mins into the talk, one of them gave out a little giggle.....that caused the other to start laughing...and it snowballed from there. It was 5 mins of giggling and uncontrollable laughter, while the rest of the congregation sat stone faced, no beleiving what they were seeing. The tears rolled down my face for the rest of the night.I was in stitches. As they left the platform, one old' holyer than thou' sister uttered..'that was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen'...and the school oversear coul'nt comment on the topic they were working on due to the 'slight lapse in concentration'......I think this was another nail into the coffin of ours.
and if you are do you care to tell why you are disfellowshipped?
for those who were not what prevented you from being disfellowshipped?
curious minds want to know.
I'm not disfellowshipped, but my mother was. It has always conerned me though..can you actually be disfellowshipped after you have issued a formal letter if disasocciation? Even when you dont attend the 'commitee meetings' that are secretly arranged? This is exactly what happened. Yes, my mother had some real dirt on more than one elder, and other Bro' and Sis', and I can only presume that this was self preservation. To her credit though, she never did elaborate to anybody, even her children who were still attending then. But I have my suspicions......not long after, two of the elders died in quick succession, and another left just like that!.....Hmmmm, coincidence???!!

Hey outbutnotdown,
This is another example of their total disunity, although they claim to be so UNITED. A young Bro' (MS) in the Cong. I was at did exactly the same. But as his Dad was an Elder, and the family was financialy acceptable...It was brushed under the carpet. I think he's been married for a similar length of time.I dont blame the lad, he was just a bit of a plonker for letting it slip. But has not been puled up or punished at all.....I think he was encouraged to pray for forgivness!!!
we seem to be having on run on new members,,,,,,,yippie .

an old age bethelite elder gives a special public talk at a kingdom hall and rambles on for some time.
after two hours, he mumbles, "sorry if i have gone over-time but i left my watch at home.
" an over-zealous ministerial servant in the front row stands up and says, "it's ok, there's a calendar behind you!
...Then he'd get up to do the closing prayer wouldnt he...and do a Public Talk part 2.That used to really bug me. Anymore than a couple of minutes, and I'd start looking around, watching everyone clinging onto the chair in front of them, helping them to stay standing up, heads would shake, some old sisters would literally have to sit back down!!
